A careers page is a page on your website that sells your company to the technicians you want to hire. With labor shortages limiting growth for nearly a quarter of home service businesses, it's one of the cheapest recruiting tools you have. Good candidates check your website before they apply, just as customers do.

How tight is the labor market?

Jobber's 2026 Home Service Trends Report, a survey of 1,050 US owners, found:

  • 23% say labor shortages limit their growth.
  • 30% say specialized trade workers are the hardest role to fill, followed by crew leaders and supervisors (19%) and installers and field staff (13%).

The outlook isn't loosening. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects 11% growth for HVAC mechanics and installers from 2025 to 2035, with about 40,600 openings a year. The median wage was $61,010 in May 2025.

Why your website matters to candidates

Job boards bring applicants in, but most will look you up before applying or accepting an interview. They want to know whether you're a real, stable company, what the work is like and whether they'd fit. A missing or outdated careers page sends good techs to the competitor who answers those questions.

What to include on a careers page

The basics, up front

  • Open roles, each with its own section or page.
  • Pay ranges and how pay works (hourly, commission, bonuses).
  • Schedules: typical hours, on-call rotation, weekends.
  • Benefits: health insurance, retirement, paid time off, vehicle, tools, phone.

What makes you different

  • Training and growth: ride-alongs, certifications you pay for, paths to lead tech or manager.
  • Equipment: newer vans, good tools, tablets and software that make the job easier.
  • Culture: how you treat people, in their words, not yours.

Proof

  • Photos and short videos of your actual team, vans and jobs.
  • Quotes from current technicians about why they stay.
  • How long people stay, if you're proud of your retention.

An application that takes two minutes

Most candidates apply from a phone. Ask for name, phone, email, role, years of experience and licenses, with an optional resume upload. Send each application straight to the hiring manager's phone, and reply within a day.

Make it findable

  • Link it from your main menu and footer ("Careers" or "Join our team").
  • Use clear job titles people search for, such as "HVAC service technician," with your city.
  • Add JobPosting structured data so roles can appear in Google's job search experience.
  • Share openings on your Facebook page and in local groups where allowed.

Recruiting beyond the trades

The same principles apply to home care agencies, where caregiver turnover is a constant challenge, and to cleaning and landscaping crews. Show the pay, the schedule, the people and an easy way to apply.
